When I think of shooting golden hour, I always plan on going coastal. Not gonna lie, it's usually a hit or miss though. The flares you get off the waves and the hazy coast make for a surreal scene that's surely hard to capture elsewhere. When you get invited to an instameet, hosted by No Wrong Way San Francisco, and they schedule it during golden hour at one of my favorite places to shoot, there's no doubt I wouldn't have turned the opportunity down. Upon arriving, we were asked to sign our names and handles and put on our nametags. It was bizarre, recognizing all the big name photographers and finally getting to meet them in-person. After seeing all their work online, you sometimes tend to forget that these photographers are actually regular people who have their own lives. It was also pretty riveting to see what everyone's set up was. At any given time, it wasn't unusual to bump into a recognized photographer rocking an 18-55mm variable aperture kit lens (talk about crazy when you see their work, you never know). You would also see the assemblage of red ring "L" lenses and people lugging carbon fiber tripods with their langly bags. To each their own, I guess. Nonetheless, the evening was surely one to remember, and I'll never forget the sight and friendships made that day.
